Tester4MOST: A New User-friendly Testing Tool for MOST 2006-01-1328

MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) is the in-vehicle network technology for multimedia devices and it has been already adopted by many major car companies. To test MOST devices and networks, several testing tools are currently available in the market. However, most of the tools require programming based on their own languages to configure a user-specific test scenario. This makes the test difficult and unclear because test engineers should learn new programming language and the scenario code itself can have bugs. In order to provide easy and clear configuration of custom test scenarios, we develop a new MOST testing tool, called Tester4MOST. For the scenario configuration through GUI, we propose a scenario model which can deal with a variety of tests in the aspects of application and network. On the other hand, in a MOST network, there can be multiple controlling nodes and controlled devices which interact with each other. To test MOST devices and networks under that condition, we need to operate multiple testing nodes simultaneously in a test. For this purpose, we introduce the test head and client, each of which can be either a control point or a controlled device. Using this functionality, Tester4MOST can perform tests in more realistic situations. In addition, the test log is recorded in a specific format and its analysis is separated from the testing so that test engineers can obtain the test results in many diverse ways.
