Development of a Robot that Simulates Motor cycle Driving Operation for Running Test 2005-32-0060

In order to accommodate the motorcycle development speed of recent years, an operation robot for reliability evaluation test was developed. Engine response of a motorcycle is very quick compared to a four-wheel vehicle. Operation speed on a clutch, a shift, and a throttle of a motorcycle valuation rider is ranging from 200msec to 400msec. Within short time frame, operation errors are measured, and appropriate actions are taken by the riders to test reliability accurately. In order to reply to the demand of function, quality and reliability, it requires the riders so much workload. Therefore, an operating simulator is installed to reduce the riders' workload. Also, a conventional operation simulator frequently causes shift errors and engine damages, which could be an obstacle for the development. In order to accommodate those issues, the driving robot, which is capable of simulating the skill levels of the drivers, was developed, and stable and precise assessment was achieved.
