Combining CFD and 1-D Duct Flow Models for Heat Transfer Simulation 2005-01-2858
This paper describes technology that allows the coupled use of 1D duct flow simulation and Computational Fluid Dynamics in a single model.
The two flow representations are solved separately but exchange boundary conditions to enforce flow and pressure continuity at the transition. The technology is demonstrated with a simple model of a pipe flowing into a cubic volume and with a real world electronics enclosure.
The technology is expected to have application to the thermal and flow analysis of heat exchangers.
