Next Generation Instrumentation and Testing Software built from the .NET Framework 2005-01-1041
This paper discusses various aspects of Microsoft's newest programming framework and how the new technology that this framework provides is being used in next generation in-vehicle and lab automotive instrumentation. Included in this paper are challenges that in-vehicle and lab instrumentation software faces today and how the .NET technologies solve these challenges. Some of the technologies discussed in this paper include the C# language, .NET reflection, and application architecture.
The paper specifically focuses on a new CAN analysis tool that addresses, through the .NET technology, many of the challenges faced by bus analysis tools today. Some of these topics include:
Conformance to instrumentation and test system standards (e.g. ASAM).
Legacy system integration.
Customer specific needs that may be proprietary.
The many communication protocols that exist in the automotive area. Some of the protocols include CCP, XCP, KWP2000, J1939 and others.
This satisfies a need for localized custom feature development in a global marketplace.
