Elementary Study on BLDC Controller for Electric Power Steering System 2004-01-1096

Electric power steering (EPS) systems have many advantages over traditional hydraulic power steering (HPS) systems in engine efficiency, driver comfort, active stability and environmental compatibility. Nowadays, some automobile experts devote to researching and developing EPS systems, but many are DC motor driving EPS systems. This research aims at developing an EPS system with Brushless DC (BLDC) motor. In the body, the following three key features are described: 1) Construction of a test-bed and a control model; 2) Controller design for BLDC motor driving EPS system; 3) New control strategy for BLDC motor driving EPS system. Finally, the control effect of the BLDC EPS system is proved by the MATLAB/simulation.
