A Study on Instructing Information Based on Driving Character and Behavior when the Driver Who is Used to Driving Right-Hand Car Drives a Left-Hand 2004-01-0449

The direction of the road is divided into two, the right side and the left side, by the habit and specific native method in the world. In the case that a driver who is used to driving on the left side drives on the right side of the road way, he or she is apt to commit errors at the intersection, which may cause a critical injury. This paper deals with the characteristics and behavior of drivers' who accustomed to left side driving, drive on the right side, and DAI (Driving Assistant Information) is developed to enhance safe driving by using a driving simulator. The eye camera and GSR (Galvanic Skin Response) were used to obtain changes in driver's eye contact and in the physiological signal in terms of objective evaluation. SD (Semantic Differential) method was used for obtaining drivers' necessary information and driving sensibilities from driving. The objective of this research is to investigate the characteristics and the behavior of two types of driving habits and the effect of DAI. Results indicate that the effects and the necessaries of supporting information (DAI) with environmental changing of driving way. This data are to be applied to quantify the AHS (Advanced cruise-assistant Highway System) requirements and evaluate the research of human factors.
