A New Approach for Isomerised LPG-Diesel Dual fuel Engine by two Different Isomerisation Catalysts Acidic Al2O3 Vs Al2O3 / Pt An Experimental Study 2002-32-1806
It has long been appreciated by engineers that the presence of smoke in the diesel engine exhaust is an indication of poor combustion resulting from some malfunction or maladjustment. Nevertheless with increasing concern for the effect of air pollution on the environment, animal and plant life, particularly in the field of road transport, vehicle exhaust emissions have in recent years been subjected to increasingly stringent regulations. One approach in this direction is to use the isomerized LPG in diesel engine in dual fuel mode of operation. The isomerization process was done by a calculated quantity of isomerization catalysts. This paper reports on the study of performance, fuel economy, combustion characteristics and emissions in a 4 stroke, 4.4 kW, single cylinder diesel engine on dual fuel mode, when acidic Al2O3 Vs Al2O3 with Pt supported are used as isomerization catalysts in the isomerization processes.
