Finite Element Analysis of a Piston Ring for Assembly Load Measurements and Interface Stresses 2001-28-0053
The paper presents the results of a Finite Element study of a piston ring under assembly load in terms of the induced stresses and ring gap. The study includes the stress analysis at the interface between the coating and substrate of the ring for various lay designs. The information from the analysis would serve to reduce the design-performance testing cycle time and be useful in the development of coating techniques.
