Noise Simulation and Validation of Air Filter Systems 2001-01-3801

This paper presents the Noise development of air filter systems by using the Finite Element method as well as the experimental procedure to validate the numerical results. The work involved the study of sub-system target allocation, test and simulation integration, modeling simplification, influence of air filter element on the noise, acoustic modal analysis and frequency response at the air filter inlet. Further on, it's discussed a method to implement and optimize quarter wave tubes and Helmholtz resonators. Numerical and experimental tests are compared and a correlation with the practical noise problems in the air filter system was established.
