Visualization and PIV Measurements of In-Cylinder Axisymmetric Flows 2001-01-3273
The in-cylinder flow in axisymmetric geometries and the flow through the inlet valve for steady and unsteady conditions are investigated and experimental results are presented. Two test rigs were used for flow visualisation studies and PIV measurements of the cylinder equipped with central valve: (i) for the steady flow through the inlet valve and (ii) for special monocylinder transient water analog for in-cylinder flow study. The similarities and the differences of the flow fields in the two test rigs are discussed on the basis of the performed experiments.
