The ability to gauge how efficiently a product can be serviced, while still in the development process, is critical for the planning and priority setting of improvement opportunities. This paper will review the techniques developed in the Product Service Strategy Group at DaimlerChrysler for early indentification of serviceability improvement opportunities, serviceability target setting, interim assessment and change justification.
