Integrated CAE Modeling of Intelligent Restraint Systems 2000-01-0606

This paper is a compilation of work whose goal is to integrate Computer Aided Engineering CAE software to model occupant injury. The work focuses on three major simulation environments that together can model the overall Intelligent Restraint System. The first software is called MADYMO and is mainly used to predict the occupant kinematics and calculate injury criteria. The second is Saber, which is used to model and predict sensing system behaviors. The third is MATLAB, which is used to calculate restraint settings from derived sensor data. The blend of these three software environments provides for a more complete understanding of an advanced restraint system.
