The Study for the Reduction of Idle Vibration of Steering System through the Use of a Weight Reduction Method 1999-01-0393

The idle vibration of steering system should be improved for better N.V.H performance of vehicles. The fundamental solution for the idle vibration is the separation of steering column frequency from resonance of body structure. Therefore, design of high stiffness steering system is very important. In this paper, design process for high stiffness steering system using light weight magnesium alloy and final results improved about 10 dB level are presented.
