The enforcement of strict oily waste discharge regulations and ever increasing waste hauling costs have forced the automotive industry to look to the recycling of metalworking fluids wherever feasible. High-speed disc centrifuge systems, integrated into a solid removal and heat pasteurization design, have proven to be the most effective means of recovering coolants and other metalworking fluids. The same technology has been employed in dewatering machine lubricating and cutting oils for many years. The more sophisticated systems are highly engineered for minimal maintenance and operational flexibility. Some can operate on a variety of different fluid systems simultaneously. Integrated high-speed centrifuge recovery systems have been designed to maximize fluid recovery and minimize fluid waste. Recovery rates up to 95% and waste tramp oils containing less than 5% coolant/water have been achieved.
