DAB Multiband Glass Antenna

1998-02-23
981144
A new type of antenna, installed on the rear glass of a vehicle, to receive both Band III and L band was developed. This antenna consists of a rectangular loop, inductance elements inserted in the loop and a monopole connected to the edge of the loop. It works, through the use of the elements, both as a one-wavelength loop antenna for Band III and a half-wave dipole for L band. This antenna is (1) conformal and (2) compatible with the defogger heater grid lines. As the results of an open site test, this antenna had a higher gain than that of commercially- available whip-type multiband antennas for both bands.

Motor Driven Power Steering—For the Maximum Steering Sensation in Every Driving Situation

1988-02-01
880705
This paper describes the first commercialized motor driven hydraulic power steering system which is installed in Subaru XT from May,1987 in Japan. This electronic-controlled Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) has been completed for improvement of the steering sensation and fuel efficiency. The MDPS system is a speed sensing power steering which produces heavier steering effort depending on the increase of the vehicle speed, Driving situations are automatically divided by the vehicle speed and steering frequency into four modes such as high speed driving, city areas, suburban and winding roads. Power assist can be controlled for the optimum steering sensation in each mode. The motor is not activated for improvement of fuel consumption when steering signals are not input below a given vehicle speed.
