Advances In Low-Density RRIM Foam for Automotive Interior Trim

1994-03-01
940704
Low-density polyurethane RRIM has drawn increasing interest as a material option for automotive interior trim. Past systems have suffered from poor thermal stability and the need to mold thick, heavy parts to attain sufficient impact resistance. A new low-density polyurethane/polyurea RRIM system has been developed with improved thermal properties. This paper serves to outline the system's physical properties with particular emphasis on thermal and impact performance. System performance will be compared to other interior trim materials.

Advances in Urethane Foam Composites for Interior Trim

1991-02-01
910520
The use of low density urethane foam composites in automotive interior trim is an established technology. In existing applications such as door trim panels, increasing production volumes are providing the impetus for process modifications and improved formulations. In emerging applications such as instrument panel covers new performance requirements must be met. The development of new Baydur STR/F formulations to address these needs are discussed.
