Pass Through Characteristics

This “Paper” shows to the reader some experiences and methodologies used by the Visteon team to solve difficulties that were found in the productive process, and to give some proposes to improve the customer quality performance as well. This methodology is used according to the significant characteristics used by the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) but “tear1” not to controlling it. It is called “Pass through Characteristics”, functional components characteristics that are not used by the supplier “tear1” during their process but they are used by the OEM, so if there are quality issues from the supplier “tear2”, they will only be detected on the OEM. Some companies have reduced significantly their structure by reviewing internal process, reducing the number of employees to get some tasks as cost reduction requirement. Actually, some companies are using it as management strategies and alternative methods to be competitive in the market.

Systematic Rotation Methodology According to the Concept of Lean Manufacturing

This paper describe a systematic rotation methodology developed and implemented in 2003 by the Visteon Chassis Manufacturing Team, which were applied concepts of lean manufacturing and ergonomics standards. It also shows the advantages that the companies could obtain, using it to solve the most of the problems that professionals have faced with the size and complexity of the production lines. To sum up, this Project provides lessons learned of how to improve the manufacture team performance, applying the systematic rotation methodology. This knowledge aid the leaders to achieve the excellence production rates and ergonomic work conditions.

This paper shows to the reader the importance, the results and advantages that the companies could obtain, using technical operation training for employees related to a specific product. The Technical Training has been used to provide knowledge, to direct and indirect people who have the specific responsibility related to a product manufactured in the companies. The ones that discovered how develop and implement similar projects, have been getting fantastic results related to productive and quality performance. Using a recently project implemented by our company, the executives, managers and engineers who are responsible for teams members, can get some information to be used with theirs groups.
