Maintenance Considerations in Aircraft-Derivative Industrial Gas Turbines

1974-02-01
740847
The past decade has seen a rapid growth in the utilization of industrial gas turbines derived from aircraft jet engines. Maintenance concepts originally developed for flight engines can be adopted for these industrial gas turbines with substantial savings in maintenance expense for the operator. The paper reviews maintenance logistics, including the special problems encountered in providing support for a new model engine, discusses some common service problems, and provides an analysis of one operator's repair experience.

Computer Modeling the Ideal Otto Cycle

1963-01-01
630084
Recent attention has been given to the use of computers for analyzing the Otto engine cycle. This paper describes the application of the IBM 7090 computer to the ideal Otto cycle, discussing (1) the general problem and overall approach taken, (2) required expressions to describe the processes taking place so that the properties of the material at each state can be determined, and (3) the actual method of computation employed.
