A semi-active suspension system is a system in which the damping coefficient of the suspension damper is controlled actively. This type of system exhibits high performance while having low system cost, light system weight, and low energy consumption. From this viewpoint, the semi-active suspension system is greatly expected to be in the mainstream of future suspension control systems. In this paper, several important points for realizing a semi-active suspension system based on the Sky-hook damper theory will be explained. At the same time, an example of the system developed by us, where the Sky-hook damper has been realized by a simple system configuration, will be shown.
