A new turbocharged 2.5 liter engine has been developed by Chrysler Corporation. It is derived from the Chrysler 2.5 liter naturally aspirated and the 2.2 liter turbocharged engines. This new powerplant features a number of new and redesigned engine components to produce a durable, high performance engine. It also incorporates the Chrysler patented, twin counter-rotating balance shaft system to eliminate the normal four cylinder engine second order shaking forces. Chrysler Corporation introduced its new 2.5 liter, multi-point fuel injected turbocharged engine for the 1989 MY. This engine was derived from Chrysler's proven 2.5 liter naturally aspirated and 2.2 liter turbocharged engines combining many of the best features of both engines. Additionally, numerous components were redesigned to achieve a high performance, durable, and fuel efficient package for use in Chrysler's front wheel drive vehicles.
