2003-08-22
2003-28-0009
The current situation and challenge for the future regarding the brake system in India is explained and compared with the history in Europe. The result is a proposal which is based on European experience and technology, however specifically adjusted to the actual needs of India. The solution is a brake system with a more powerful compressor, an air-dryer and an ABS with load proportioning function.

Dry air is an important safety factor for automotive air brake systems. The basic physics of heatless air drying are outlined. Some real solutions are introduced. The operating limits of dual chamber air-dryers are identified. An electronic control system is described which improves air-dryer performance while minimizing energy consumption and air wastage, thereby improving the performance and reliability of the pneumatic equipment.
