The integrated panel assembly system is a natural design evolution from the well known C-Frame riveting system as has been used in the aerospace industry for the last five decades. This development is setting a new standard in automatic fuselage panel assembly and is a result of our customers requirements. The criteria were to obtain a substantial increase in the rivet installation rate, an improved and consistent quality, elimination of dedicated holding fixtures, and simultaneously reducing the floor space to a minimum. This paper will describe the system and its application, including photographs showing the equipment.

An airplane fuselage structure basically consists of many individual fuselage panels which differ considerably in size and shape. Each individual panel is automatically assembled from individual components, such as the panels, frames, stringers, clips, shear ties, window frames, etc.
