Design Guidelines for Methanol Refuelling Stations - 1992

Fuel Methanol, safer and environmentally friendlier than gasoline, introduces solvency and electrolytic characteristics that preclude the use of raw materials designated as standard hardware for the storage and dispensing of gasoline. Changes to address the solvency and electrolytic criteria include - the introduction of methanol resistant plastic and rubbers, expanded fuel filter systems and electrical isolation of dissimilar metals. Extrinsic conditions, in the form of regulations and environmental risk assessment, result in new design criteria for storage and dispensing systems that include double wall tanks and piping, self contained storage tank systems, spill containment and fill limiters.
