Restricted and/or reportable substance lists are published by several automotive and component parts companies. These lists specify materials that companies wish to restrict from incoming parts or materials whose presence must be reported. This paper discusses the role of these lists in the automobile industry. A summary table of lists published by twenty-two companies is provided.
