The purpose of this paper is to discuss the design validation and performance verification of CCMax™ non-intumescent mat for high performance catalytic converter applications. The validity of Unifrax Corporation's application engineering modeling and evaluation techniques was verified through independent hot vibration testing. Changes in mat performance over time was studied utilizing evaluation techniques including resonance frequency, hot push out and settled volume testing.

This paper focuses specifically on the features and benefits of one high temperature insulation alternative, ceramic fiber, and provides a concise comparison against lower performance glass and mineral fiber alternatives.
