Computer-Aided 3-D Surface Reconstruction During High Speed Crush Events

1991-02-01
910320
A system which can remotely measure detailed deformations of vehicle structures during crush events was developed. The system uses ordinary video or 16 mm high speed movie to capture the crush event. This information is digitized and analyzed using personal computers to perform photogrammetric manipulations which yield accurate surface geometries. The output is useful for comparison to computer simulations. This paper presents preliminary results regarding the accuracy of this system.

The Application of Photogrammetry to Accident Reconstruction

1986-10-01

Accident investigation involves the collection of relevant data from many sources. Frequently, information exists in the form of accident photographs of objects that are no longer available for examination or direct measurement. The use of close-range photogrammetry can be an effective tool in the utilization of these photographs. In this paper, a case study accident investigation is described where stereo photogrammetry was applied to develop information for further analysis and testing.
