Human Database. Storage and Treatment Applications

2004-06-15
2004-01-2155
The human databases play a vital role regarding different areas. In the last 20 years Kinanthropometry has grown as a scientific discipline in the Faculty of Human Kinetics. As a result of this growth, a huge amount of data of youngsters between 3 and 18 years has been stored. A group of different model applications was created to help the storage, the search of each variable and the treatment of information. Firstly a Database was developed to allow a fast research of information and some small treatments. To allow more specific and complex treatments some applications were developed.

The aim of our study was to estimate the muscle skeletal load of human activities in the car industry, for that purpose MSC Adams Lifemodeler was used to build a mechanical model for a work place simulation were a electric screw driving was used. The data for model assembly was provided by video captured recordings, electromyography measurements and anthropometric data of workers. The task chosen for simulation was one of the more demanding, presenting a high-risk level for musculoskeletal disorders, considering the plant ergonomic department classification. The model allows the calculation of bone forces and joint moments of force. This will allow, in the future, to obtain the values of muscle skeletal action forces in wrist forearm and shoulder, caused by the action of the electric screwdriving tool. Results presented are from an ongoing study.

The work reported in this paper has been conducted by a team from GE-Aircraft Engines, GE-CR&D, and Sundstrand under a contract sponsored by the USAF, Wright Laboratories, WPAFB, Contract No. F33615-90-C-2052. The objective of this contract is to prove the feasibility of an Integral Starter/Generator (IS/G) through the preliminary design stage and demonstrate the starter/ generator technology in the externally mounted version utilizing switched reluctance machine technology. This paper will report on the progress for the EIS/G-system through the initial testing stage. Comparison of the finished hardware with the design results presented earlier will lead of the paper. This is followed by the discussion of the early testing results for the system testing. Recommendation on additional testing will be presented at the end of the paper.
