Characteristics of an electronic vacancy control system in the parking lot of the Federal University of ABC campus Santo André

Based on the possible relation between the current method of organizing the control of available parking lots at the Santo André campus, of the Federal University of ABC (UFABC) and the development of car queues at the university concierge, the elaborated research project proposed the development of a prototype electronic system to control the availability of these parking lots, in order to identify the main characteristics of the implementation of this system. Therefore, through the development of exploratory and qualitative research [3], it was possible to elaborate an electronic form through the Google Forms platform [10] to obtain primary data [5] that made possible the implementation of the system. Then, a prototype was developed through the Open Source platform [1] Arduino [6] as the prototyping platform, the use of electronic components [4] for the system such as the Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) light sensor [11], resistors, Light Emitting Diodes (LED) and relay.

This paper determines the market positioning of the electric vehicle, while applying tools like SWOT analysis, Porter’s five forces, external environment analysis or the Ansoff’s Matrix. It is important to note that these tools are applied looking from the perspective of the electric vehicle, i.e. how the electric vehicle impacts a conventional fossil fuel drive automobile manufacturer. There is no doubt that the electric vehicle - or at least some version of it - is the future of urban mobility. At the same time it has been considered as a new product among automotive industry. Nevertheless it cannot be neglected that the time of the electric vehicle has not come so far. It is more probable that there might be another evolution step, for example the hybrid electric vehicle, before the fossil fuel driven automobile will be replaced.

The means of vehicle propulsion - sources of mechanical work - comprise Otto or Diesel cycle engines. However, in hybrid or purely electric vehicles, the arrangements of powertrain can be configured in a whole range of new possibilities. The demands of working arrangements and specific performance in automotive applications are now imposed on the electric motorization. The electrical energy storage has been of interest for science and technology due to the multiplicity of solutions that rely on this function. The theoretical principles have evolved, as well the technological resources and the knowledge of materials. This exploratory study investigates the national objectives for electric and hybrid vehicles in Japan and South Korea regarding types of light-duty urban vehicles under development and their main characteristics in terms of vehicle propulsion seeking to present the progress achieved by companies that already sell some models, including Hyundai, KIA, Nissan and Toyota.

In over one hundred years of history and engineering development vehicles, prevailed the internal combustion engine. Automotive technology evolution has overcome obstacles to socioeconomic and geographical expansion of the common usage and access to motorized vehicles. Technological solutions have been created for many different vocations and vehicular applications. Electric vehicle initiates threshold of a new cycle of product development and technologies. Thus, the electric vehicle brings to discussion central issues, such as, application, vehicle operation cycle, comfort, safety, performance, technological choices, efficiency, lifecycle and cost. These questions expand to manufacturing technology, logistics and after-sales. And these take to outermost, but nonetheless relevant, questions of infrastructure, user culture and new paradigms for the coexistence between humans and the technological equipment.
