Modeling and Experimental Testing Analysis of Static and Dynamic Characteristics of Air Springs

In order to study the effects of different factors on the static and dynamic characteristics of air springs, three models were established to calculate the static and dynamic characteristics of air springs, including modeling at the design position, modeling only considering the straight state, and modeling considering the thickness of the bellows in the straight state. Static stiffness of air springs is calculated using three different models and are compared with experiments. In the straight state model considering the thickness of the bellow, the influence of aluminum tube and bellows thickness on the static stiffness are considered, and the modeling with the straight state solved the problem of the change in cord angle after the air spring was inflated and expanded. The established model is then used to calculate static and dynamic characteristics of air springs, such as static stiffness, hysteresis loop, and dynamic stiffness.

Modeling and Control Strategy for Engine Thermal Management System

In order to study the influence of engine silicone oil fan clutch on the performances of engine cooling system under different control strategies, a model of engine cooling system for light truck is established. The working characteristics of the silicone oil clutch and the measured performance parameters of the cooling system components are taken into account in our proposed model. Modeling methods for different silicone oil fan control strategies are also given. Using the established model, the performance parameters under different vehicle speeds, such as coolant temperature of engine outlet and power consumption of cooling fan, are calculated and analyzed. The in-suite measurement of the engine cooling system is carried out to get the temperatures of engine coolant inlet and outlet from engine ECU. The model is validated by the comparison between the calculation and the measured results.

Study on Driving Forms and Control of Engine Cooling Fan

The influence of engine cooling fan on the working state of engine cooling system under different driving forms and control strategy is studied, and a simulation model of engine thermal management system of a commercial vehicle is established. The model takes into account the measured performance parameters of the cooling system components, the gear shift logic of the transmission, the effect of vehicle speed on the airflow rate of the radiator, and proposes a modeling method for different cooling fan driving forms. The performance parameters such as engine outlet coolant temperature and corresponding cooling fan speed under different vehicle speeds and engine loads are calculated and analyzed by using the established model. The road measurement test of the engine thermal management system under the same working condition was carried out to read the relevant data from the engine ECU and confirm the reliability of the data.

Design of a Car Battery Box with Combined Steel Stamped and Aluminum Extruded Process

In the manufacturing of battery boxes using the aluminum extruded process, poor consistency of products and a short life of the die for making aluminum structural sections are usually observed. A new method of producing battery boxes is proposed that combines steel stamped and aluminum extruded process. This paper first describes the design requirements for a battery box using a new process, and several important issues such as weld seam arrangement and error proofing in the manufacturing process are discussed. To address the issue of weld seam arrangement, the following three principles should be considered in the design: These principles include that the profile lap angle should be above 90°, three or more beams should not be lapped too closely together, and multiple brackets in close proximity should be designed as one unit.

Modeling of Silicone Oil Clutch for Analyzing Thermal Performance

The silicone oil clutch is a device that uses the viscous shear force of silicone oil to transmit torque. Due to the difference in the rotational speed of the driving and driven parts, the silicone oil inside the clutch generates much heat, and the silicone oil temperature increases, resulting in a decrease in viscosity. Therefore, excellent thermal performance is necessary for silicone oil clutch to ensure torque transmission ability. This paper proposes a modeling method for analyzing the thermal performance of a silicone oil clutch. Firstly, the temperature measurement test for the silicone oil clutch is carried out by using wireless temperature measurement equipment. The driven speed, silicone oil temperature, and the temperature of different areas of the clutch shell are measured under different driving speeds.

Analysis of Influencing Factors of Secondary Torque of Automotive Ball-Type Universal Joint

During the operation of the automotive drive shaft system, the ball-type universal joint will generate a secondary torque, which will affect the torque transmission of the automotive drive shaft system and the comfort of the automobile. Under the influence of the internal friction of the ball-type universal joint, the secondary torque generates a torque component on the plane where the working angle is located and the plane perpendicular to the working angle. To effectively calculate and analyze the secondary torque, this paper establishes a multi-body dynamic model of the ball-type universal joint. At the same time, the secondary torque of the ball-type universal joint is measured by the NVH multi-function test bench, which verifies the validity of the multi-body dynamic model. In order to improve the analysis efficiency of the secondary torque, a proxy model of the secondary torque of the ball-type universal joint is established based on the multi-body dynamic model.

CFD Simulation on Nanofluid Coolant of Gasoline Direct Injection Engine

The conventional cooling fluids in vehicle engine cooling water jacket have relatively poor heat transfer performance. The key to enhance heat transfer in cooling-jacket is to research a kind of new coolants. Nanofluids have heat transfer enhancement merits. In present study, the numerical simulation on Fe3O4 nanofluid flow in cooling water jacket of Gasoline direct injection engine was performed using computational fluid dynamics ( CFD) software FLUENT. The heat transfer coefficient of nanofluids was calculated and verified by experiment. Fe3O4 nano-particles were used in mixture of water/ethylene glycol as a base fluid. The thermal performance of the nanofluid was studied, also the thermal performance of a cooling-jacket was studied with CFD technology. The simulation was performed for different volumetric concentrations of(1%,2%,5%) nanofluids at different engine speeds. The results showed that heat transfer enhanced compared to the base fluid.

Effect of Magnetic Nanorefrigerant on Electric Vehicle

The ever increasing popularity of electric vehicles and higher requirement on safety and comfort has led heat pump air conditioning system indispensable in electric vehicle. Many studies have shown that the addition of nano particles contributes to great improvement on thermal conductivity than that of conventional refrigerants. Therefore, the application of the magnetic nanorefrigerant in heat pump air conditioning system has massive potential to heighten the heat transfer efficiency. This paper aims at studying the magnetic nanorefrigerant comprised of the magnetic nano powder Fe3O4 and refrigerant R134a. According to the relevant theoretical analyses and empirical formula, the heat transfer coefficient, density, viscosity, and other physical parameters are calculated approximately. In the heat pump air conditioning system of a certain type of electric vehicle, the special working condition parameters are selected to carry out calculation analysis with numerical analysis software.
