Aspect of Simulation and Experimental Research Studies on Wheeled Armored Fighting Vehicles with Hydropneumatic Suspension

2010-04-12
2010-01-0651
One of the priority for military force is modern land platform development. Similar goal is in European Defense Agency, there plan to future fighting vehicles develop. The paper present simulation research of future wheeled Armored Fighting Vehicles. The paper included original simulation model for AFV taking in consideration EBS and ABS systems and simulation test result for typical road test also present experimental verification. Experimental research studies of vehicles are of high cognitive importance. However, they are expensive, time-consuming and sometimes dangerous, especially when they refer to edge safety parameters of a vehicle motion. Their scope can be limited if researchers conducting the studies have at their disposal a mathematical model of the vehicle motion and dynamics and a simulation program allowing for carrying out research in “virtual space.” A start-up of the simulation process requires gathering a relevant and require amount of data.

Influence of High Gravity of Military Vehicles' Weight on Road Safety - Experimental Result

2008-04-14
2008-01-1484
Military special vehicles are very often modernized during years of their exploitation. Also, very often a new version of their base chassis is developed. Interference in technical and exploitation parameters might lower safety ground. The paper presents problems in development and construction of patrol vehicles and those for armed intervention and research for upper safety ground in future new versions of the vehicles. During exploitations, there are many changes made to the following parameters: level of protection and weapons, which depend on a type of mission. This article presents experimental tests, recommended by ISO, and their result for: HMMWV, HMMWV with extra armor, and for antiterrorism vehicle “WILD BOAR” that Polish MP is equipped with.

Researches of Influence of Tires Types on Military Trucks Mobility

2007-10-30
2007-01-4192
The paper includes theoretical basis of the terrain-tire interaction model and results of simulation research of driving force dependent on tire types, their characteristics and ground characteristic as well. Mathematical model of military truck has been built using MBS software DADS. The model has been validated on deformable ground using tires with well known characteristics. In conclusions authors described obtained results and possibilities of applying of developed model for analyzing military trucks dynamics and mobility on different kind of terrain with different kind of tires.
